Bringing a newborn home is exciting and, for many parents, a little overwhelming. A few general basics can help the first weeks go more smoothly.

Feeding and sleep

Newborns typically feed every 2–3 hours and sleep in short stretches throughout the day and night — this is normal and gradually changes over the following months.

When to call your pediatrician

Persistent fever, poor feeding, unusual lethargy, or jaundice that appears to be worsening are all reasons to contact your pediatrician promptly rather than waiting for a scheduled visit.

Our Pediatrics department is available for both routine newborn checkups and urgent concerns — reach out to schedule a visit whenever you have questions.
